Students will have the exciting opportunity to attend several events next week surrounding President Robert Henry’s inauguration.
A celebration in honor of Henry’s birthday, which will include an informal ice cream party and a sizeable birthday cake, will be hosted at noon April 4 in Tom and Brenda McDaniel University Center.
On Tuesday night, there will be a festival that includes a number of student performances showcasing the talent of our student body, including the classical Greek tragedy, “House of Atreus,” “Berlioz Requiem” presented by OCU choirs and a moveable feast which features student performances, exhibits and culinary delights. See the advertisement on page 6 for a full list of events.
Henry’s inauguration is a historic moment for the current generation of OCU students. See page 1 for more information on Henry’s experience with planning the inauguration.
The series of events provide a unique opportunity for students to interact with the president in a way they wouldn’t normally get to on a daily basis.
We ask students to take advantage of the canceled Wednesday classes to attend the inaugural ceremony and to become more familiar with Henry on a more personal level.
Henry used his first year serving as president to balance the budget and get the university out of debt. The inauguration ceremony is a symbol of the university moving into the future.
Along with celebrating Henry’s accomplishments, the events are a great way for students to show support to their friends and the university.
We encourage you to spend the day learning about our new president and the campus community through this celebration.
