The Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights announced it will open an investigation to review Yale’s policies for dealing with sexual harassment and sexual assault, according to the Yale Herald.
Earlier this month, 16 Yale students filed a complaint with OCR citing several public scandals, including a campus fraternity’s rape chant and other private cases.
Current student Hannah Zeavin is one of three complainants who have gone public.
Zeavin said the atmosphere on campus “precludes women from having the same opportunity to the Yale education as their male counterparts.”
