I see a student reading the newspaper. You look so intellectual and informed with your fingers covered in newsprint. I hope you work my Sudoku next.
It’s a bit exaggerated, but the above description is representative of those posted on a new website featuring OCU.
LikeALittle.com allows users to compliment and chat about crushes or otherwise bemoan missed encounters from the safety of a trusty screen, according to the website’s “about” page.
The student-created OCU page has gone from about five posts a day to being regular student entertainment in just more than a month. Read more on Page 1.
It may seem like harmless fun, but students should be cautious when posting to LikeALittle.com.
It is not difficult to deduct whom the post is talking about at a university OCU’s size, making it difficult for the poster to remain anonymous too.
“You’re really cute and funny. I had a blast last Saturday night and hope we can go out again. But I never see you around campus and it’s a total bummer. P.S. I think it’s really cool that you’re the lead in the opera,” reads a comment posted Friday about a female with brown hair.
If anyone saw “The Opera Rehearsal” this weekend or is at all versed in the happenings of the music school, they would know to whom the post refers.
This was not the intention of the site’s producers.
The flirty fun can start to be invasive.
While we don’t discourage students from posting on the website, we encourage safety and responsibility.
If you really want someone to know how you feel and that the comment came from you, tell them in person. Don’t mask yourself with your computer screen.
