Ah, so close.
In just a few short weeks, students will say goodbye to campus life and head out on new adventures. From nature to family to professional development, one thing is clear: students have got their eye on the prize when it comes to visions of summer.
Diving into all things nature and animals:
Rachel Alves: Go to Narragansett Beach in Rhode Island!
Jacob Grant: Besides the much-needed time off, I’m really looking forward to being able to have hot weather.
Olivia Morgan: Going to the lake and going tubing.
Lauren Taylor: Go to the Brookfield Zoo to see dolphins (and maybe even getting to feed them).
There’s no place like home:
Brooke Baldwin: Spending time with family, keeping up with dance training and going on vacation.
Molly Carson: I’m looking forward to being home with my parents and my dog.
Kayla Geerts: Getting together with my friends and walking to the nearby ice cream place called Vandies to get ice cream and go outside together.
Abby Rau: I am looking forward to seeing my friends from back home, working an internship with a local theater and of course relaxing in the sun.
Weston Tweddell: I’m really looking forward to being home with my family and friends. Being out of state is exciting, but also nothing beats home. I’m excited to share my experiences and show off everything I’ve learned. I’m looking forward to helping my family learn instruments and continue to jam out with friends.
Professional development and the open road:
Erica Austin: As someone who is from Cape Cod, MA, I am definitely really looking forward to long beach days. I am also really excited to pursue my first official choreographic opportunity, as I will be choreographing a dance or two for my studio to be competed this upcoming year!
Lucia Dawkins: I am most excited about the assistant stage management position that I was offered. I’m going to be the ASM for my old ballet studio’s production of Peter Pan (the studio is named Classical Ballet School, in Edmond Oklahoma). I’ll be working under Dean Susan Cosby’s supervision so I’m super excited about this opportunity to learn more!
Lydia Hotovy: This summer I am so excited to travel home to Nebraska and work as a choreographer for the student theatre, S.T.A.G.E. Inc. in Lincoln. It is fantastic to create movement and teach kids, two of my favorite things!
Elana Kaplan: I am most excited about my summer job! This entire summer I will be working in costumes at a theatre on four amazing shows. The theater is really well respected and I am so excited to spend another summer working on costumes.
Violet Rand: I am most looking forward to my internship with Joffrey Ballet School in Dallas, I can’t wait to meet everyone and get to learn first-hand about the behind-the-scenes work that goes into running dance intensives! I’m also looking forward to being home, swimming at the beach and hanging with my hometown friends!
Makayla Tillet: I’m looking forward to going to Alaska with my mom for our very first mother/daughter trip, as well as continuing to do research at my current job at OMRF!
Eva Viciana: I’m most excited to travel, going to London and New York
As for me, being home for an extended period of time surrounded by my friends and family who mean the most, is more than I could ask for.
