Dear Diary,
Early morning workouts kickstart the day – the stretch, the run, the lift – they awaken me, priming me for whatever comes next. After workouts, I go to class. Balancing golf and academics remains a daily challenge. The struggle between the golf course and homework persists, yet I’m getting the hang of managing it … somewhat.
The off-season means unstructured practice times, but I still go and practice. I’ve learned not every day of practice has to be perfect, sometimes just showing up and giving what you’ve got for that day is dedication enough to yourself and your sport. Listening to my body and how I feel is something I’ve focused on lately, especially for the offseason.
It’s funny how the golf course can be both a place for serious practice and a spot for unwinding. Jokes, banter, and the occasional trick shot competitions break the tension that comes with being so focused during official practices. The bond among the team is something special. We’re a close-knit group, always supporting each other on and off the course. There’s a shared understanding of the grind, the sacrifices, and the passion that fuels our days which is what builds this sisterhood.
After practice, I will go to my part-time job. When I’m not in school or on the course, I spend time working with cameras and sideline reporting at games. This is something I’m very passionate about which requires a lot of unseen hours for a 1-minute interview, but I wouldn’t trade it.
After this, I’ll go home. Rest. And do it all over again the next day. Tomorrow, another day of practice and classes awaits. The routine might seem tiring, but each day brings new challenges and opportunities for growth. Here’s to hoping for better drives, sharper putts, and the strength to keep pushing towards excellence.
Until tomorrow,
Paige Wood
