Within three hours of its release, Lady Gaga’s latest single “Born This Way” shattered an iTunes record for fastest climb to number one, beating out Taylor Swift’s record for “Mine” which topped the charts in five hours.
The single was available for purchase on iTunes for $1.29 Friday morning at 6 a.m. EST.

The sledgehammer-beaten/disco-infused hybrid hit is the title track off Gaga’s album, due for purchase May 23.
Within a day of its release, the single topped the iTunes charts of every country.
The single is speculated to top Billboard’s Hot 100 charts. If the song reaches the no. 1 spot, it will be Billboard’s one-thousandth no. 1 song.
