Rooney, a dog owned by Ashley Kinard, film production senior, reveals his habits and interests.
Q: What is your name and gender?
A: My name is Rooney, and I’m a good boy.
Q: How old are you?
A: I just turned one in November.
Q: What’s your backstory? How did you come to OCU?
A: My mom adopted me from an animal shelter in Arkansas when I was 3 months old. I was just a puppy and I was alone without any of my siblings. I eventually moved on campus with my mom as an emotional support animal.
Q: Describe your daily routine.
A: Sleep in until 10 a.m., eat breakfast, stand guard on the balcony and watch people walk to class, take a nap on the couch, tear up my rope toy, take another nap, eat some ice cubes, go to the dog park, eat dinner, and end the day cuddling with mom in bed.
Q: What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done this semester?
A: The most exciting thing I’ve done this semester is taking a road trip to Arkansas to see my family and all of their dogs – lots of wrestling and cuddles.
Q: What’s your favorite song?
A: Definitely You’re My Best Friend by Queen. I like to dance to it with my mom.
Q: Do you have any other dog friends at OCU?
A: Buster! I’m always SUPER pumped to see him but he gets annoyed by how much energy I have.
Q: What’s your greatest strength?
A: I am the world’s greatest cuddler.
Q: What’s your greatest weakness?
A: The bathtub.
Q: What is your favorite toy?
A: I LOVE squeaky toys but I tear them up too quickly to keep them around. I do have a bone that I love to chew on, especially when Mom puts peanut butter inside it.
Q: What is your favorite place in Oklahoma City?
A: My favorite place is definitely Midtown Mutts Dog Park. I get to go there almost every day and have made lots of dog and human friends. I have the route from OCU to the dog park memorized, so I get super excited when I realize where we’re going.
