University officials advertised free admission application fees for transfer students from St. Gregory’s University.
St. Gregory’s, a private liberal arts school and Oklahoma’s only Catholic University, will close at the end of the fall semester.
The university announced its closure Nov. 8 due to financial issues, and the decision finalized after the denial of a loan application from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, according to Tulsa World.
St. Gregory’s enrollment totaled to about 700 students, according to U.S. News & World Report. OCU officials released a Facebook advertisement geared toward those students Nov. 9.
“We’ve made transferring from St. Gregory’s to OKCU easy,” the ad read. The post said application fees were waived, and the Kramer School of Nursing Spring 2018 application would be extended for St. Gregory’s transfer students.
Officials also posted a chart of transfer scholarship amounts on the university website. Increased academic scholarships are available for some St. Gregory’s transfers:
- Those with a 3.6 to 4.0 GPA will receive an $8,000 presidential scholarship, in addition to the typical $7,000 amount.
- Transfers with a 3.0 to 3.29 GPA will receive the $5,000 achievement scholarship, in addition to the $4,000.
- The university scholarship, $5,500 for students with a 3.3 to 3.59 GPA will remain the same.
