Dr. Amy Cataldi has been named dean of Petree College of Arts and Sciences.
Cataldi was one of three candidates interviewed on campus on Jan. 31.
She previously served as interim dean after Dr. Mark Davies, Wimberly professor of social and ecological ethics, stepped down from the position.
Provost Dr. Kent Buchanan announced the decision in a Feb. 14 email sent to the campus community.
Buchanan wrote:
Cataldi has served as interim dean since Spring 2015 and as associate dean since Summer 2012.
She joined the faculty of Oklahoma City University as a psychology professor in 2000 and became chair of the department in 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Boston College, a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Oklahoma City University, and Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Oklahoma in experimental psychology.
Cataldi serves on the university’s academic council, academic programs and standards committee, budget committee, strategic planning committee and steering committee, and behavioral intervention team, among other committees. She is a member of the American Conference of Academic Deans, the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences, and the American Psychological Association. She was named OCU’s Faculty Member of the Year in 2008.
Dr. Cataldi has a tremendous list of accomplishments and strong experience in scholarship and in higher education. I am pleased to welcome her permanently to the dean’s position and look forward to her continued work in advancing the Petree College of Arts and Sciences.
“Dr. Cataldi brings a high level of scholarship and servant leadership to the dean’s position,” said President Robert Henry. “She is an excellent choice to lead the Petree College of Arts and Sciences and to expand the university’s work in the communities that we serve.”
A national search was conducted for the position. I would like to thank the search committee, chaired by Dr. Laurie Kauffman, for their work on this process during the past year.
