A vehicle was stolen around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 24 from the Cokesbury Apartments parking lot.
The theft appears to be linked to the vehicle theft and auto burglaries earlier this month, said Police Chief Bradd Brown.
“There are two main suspects that have repeatedly been seen going through OCU parking lots looking for unlocked cars,” Brown said. “It looks like they typically work between the hours of 2 and 7 a.m.”
Brown identified the suspects as a black male in his 20s and a white female, also in her 20s. The female usually wears a maroonish red sweatshirt imprinted with the word “pink,” and her hair is in a ponytail. Police are still examining video footage, but the pictures are too far away to gather much more information, Brown said.
Suspects with a similar description also stole a car from 35th St. earlier this month, just north of campus.
“They seem to be working mainly along Kentucky Avenue, and when they see people walk or drive by, they’ll duck or hide from view,” Brown said. “If you see a pair that matches their description, notify us, even if they don’t look like they’re doing anything at the time.”
Campus police is providing extra patrols in the Kentucky Ave. area, especially during night hours. They also asked Oklahoma City Police for extra backup and help in identifying the suspects.
The university ordered eight additional security cameras to place around the Cokesbury Apartments parking lot. The cameras were delivered and are waiting on installation.
“We need the eyes and ears of the campus community because we can’t be everywhere and see everything,” Brown said.
Brown said he also suggests students program the campus police numbers on their phone.
