Fox Prouty, acting freshman, discusses his childhood, dreams, and likeness to Patrick the Star.
Q: What is your go-to fun fact?
A: I’m related to Travis Pastranna, who is an X-Games gold medalist. He was the first guy to do a double backflip on a motorcross bike. He was also in NASCAR for a little bit.
Q: Tell me about your childhood.
A: I grew up in Marblehead, MA, which is right above Salem, MA. I learned a lot about witches and the ocean. It was always very snowy. I have never had a fight with my sister in my entire life. She’s older than me. She was in a rock band, and now, she’s working for some music company. My dad is an aerospace engineer, so he works on planes, rockets, and occasionally submarines. My mom used to work at an Internet startup company in the 90s. She made a lot of money and then got out of that quickly. Then, she worked at a senior service center in Lynn, MA. “Lynn, Lynn, the city of sin. You don’t come out the way you come in.” Lynn is that bad. My town is just full of elitist screwballs. There are 20,000 people and only 10 are black.
Q: In potential spouse, would it be a dealbreaker if they refused to wear shoes?
A: I mean, no? I have a cousin in Vermont who works at Grand Isle Park. He never wears shoes, and his feet are as tough as rocks.
Q: What is your dream vacation?
A: I’d like to go to Germany at some point. My parents went to the Andechs Monestary on their honeymoon, which apparently has the best beer in Germany. They waited in line for their beer and met an Englishman. They asked him why the beer was the best, and he said it had twice the alcohol content of an average German beer. I’d love to go there and see how that works.
Q: What would be the worst occupation for you?
A: Being an author. I absolutely loathe writing. It’s a problem.
Q: If you had 10 hours by yourself with unlimited money, what would you do?
A: I would commission a time machine, so eventually they’d be able to make it. Then, when they do finally make it, I’ll use it to go back to those 10 hours whenever I want to get more money.
Q: What is your dream role?
A: Elder Cunningham in The Book of Mormon.
Q: What is your favorite style of dance?
A: I like watching interpretive dancing.
Q: What is your spirit animal?
A: A fox and also Patrick Star. I’ve found that my place in life is being the Patrick Star to everyone else’s SpongeBob.
Q: What are most proud of?
A: I’m in college! That’s an amazing thing.
Q: What has surprised you the most about college?
A: How late people stay up on a regular occasion. On a Tuesday, you might be up until three or four n the morning.
Q: What are your summer plans?
A: I’m living with a Fiji brother of mine, and we’re working a 7-11 night shift. Apparently, we’ll make $14-$21 an hour!
Q: What is the ultimate dream?
A: Being in suburbs of a big city as a stay-at-home dad, taking care of kids. My wife comes home from work at 4p.m., and we spend time together before I go act at a theater that night.
