Molly Smith, dance management sophomore, loves everything from dance to baking to dogs to North Carolina. In fact, she likes about everything except failure and feral pigs.
Q: What is your favorite color?
A: Carolina Blue because I’m from North Carolina, and I love it.
Q: If you were a drug, what would you be?
A: I mean, the obvious choice is Molly, but aside from that, I would say some herbal ginger tea, because ‘Go herbal medicine!’
Q: What are you passionate about?
A: For sure dance, particularly tap. I’m passionate about food, cooking, and baking. Also interfaith relations and my dog.
Q: Tell me about things you bake.
A: When I was 14, I started a baking business called Sweet Sensations and sold desserts to my friends. Last summer, my sister and I made a wedding cake for her friend. Someday, we’re going to have a bakery together called Dixie Sisters Bakery. In the meantime, I bake bread and things in my room for my roommates.
Q: What’s your favorite thing to bake?
A: I make cupcakes most often, but I like baking new things. Recently, I made croissants.
Q: Tell me a crazy dance story.
A: One time, my dance studio team was at nationals (a big dance competition) doing our hip hop dance called ‘On Broadway.’ There was one point where we were supposed to freeze and look at this girl who does all these flips. The girl didn’t realize we had started. She was talking to her mom and missed her entrance.
Q: What pattern are you?
A: Paisley because I seem a little preppy on the outside, but I really just like to be colorful.
Q: What’s your largest regret in life?
A: Not switching dance studios sooner. For most of my life, I went to a studio that was 5 minutes from my house. I found out that convenience is not always key.
Q: Make up a word, definition, and sentence.
A: Flubberheiser: When you’re trying to say words, but they don’t come out and you mumble –
I was trying to answer Sage’s questions, but I just kept flubberheising.
Q: What is your favorite bodily function?
A: Digestion
Q: You’re outside: Would you rather sleep, bird, dig holes, or approach a feral pig?
A: I think I’ll stick with sleeping. Feral pigs are dangerous, birding is not for me, and digging holes seems like a lot of effort when I don’t have much body fat.
Q: If your dog was a flavor of ice cream, what flavor would it be?
A: She would be Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia because she is the best kind of dog, but she’s also sassy. You’ve gotta have that tartness. Her name is Savannah. She’s a miniature Schnauzer.
Q: If you were a meat, what meat would you be?
A: Salmon because I mostly eat chicken and seafood. Chicken is too mainstream.
Q: Phillips head or Flathead?
A: Phillips head because that’s what we use to fix tap shoes.
Q: Oily, dry, or combination?
A: Dry because my skin is dry and I don’t want my pizza to be oily.
Q: If you could visit the southernmost tip of one continent, which continent would you choose?
A: I was thinking about Australia but probably Europe.
Q: What is your greatest fear?
A: Failure
Q: What is the ultimate dream?
A:
– Graduate
– Get on a cruise ship
– Get on Broadway
– Get into a tap company
– Stage manage and do lighting design
– Open a bakery with my sister that is also a dance studio and bookstore
– Have dogs.
