Honors Program members are organizing a weekly event this semester known as Friday Forum.
Friday Forum is a new event where students can join a discussion on a preselected topic.
“Every Friday we try to bring students together, not related to a specific class, and discuss interesting topics,” said Arrash Allahyar, student assistant director of the Honors Program.
Topics discussed at Friday Forums so far include study abroad opportunities and scholarships, a presentation on critical and historical contexts for Rent, a film series led by Colin Earle, environmental studies senior, and information about upcoming Oklahoma Scholar-Leadership Enrichment Program seminars.
“I like the Friday Forums. They’re very interesting and engaging,” said Laura Jardine, cell and molecular biology sophomore. “I went to the one about Rent, and it was really great.”
Friday Forums are free and open to all students who are interested. The event is hosted in the student lounge of the Honors space on the north side of the Goldstar Memorial Building.
The next Friday Forum is from 3-4 p.m. Oct. 23. Dr. Karl Rambo, Oklahoma Scholar Leadership Enrichment Program director, is the guest speaker.
