The OCU chapter of Phi Mu moved into their new meeting house during the summer, right in time for recruitment.
The house is located in the building previously occupied by the Student Health Center, completing the Panhellenic Quadrangle alongside the existing three sorority houses.
The chapter previously used the Cokesbury Court Clubhouse as a meeting space, but did not have an area specifically designated for Phi Mu.
The sorority is the newest addition to Greek life on campus. They officially became a chapter in November 2013.
“Being in the Panhellenic quad has made me feel more a part of the Panhellenic community,” said Abigail Padgett, nursing junior and new member director of Phi Mu.
Members of the Epsilon Epsilon chapter think their new home will help the sorority to further prosper on campus.
“Our energy is high and our excitement is overwhelming,” Padgett said. “We moved in right in time for fall recruitment season. We are so happy we can finally call this house our home and can continue to grow and develop as a Greek organization at OCU.”
It was decided when the chapter was first colonized that they would move into the fourth house, but it took time to move the Student Health Center and renovate the house to accommodate their needs. The new space is not expected to add additional costs for Phi Mu members.
Phi Mu participated in their second Bid Day on Sunday, gaining 33 women. Read more about Bid Day on Page 1.
The Student Health Center is now located in the Kramer School of Nursing West.
