- Border, a one-minute short from animation studio plan78, is a brief but brilliant commentary on the absurdity of the lines people draw between each other. Two little critters, one blue and one yellow, are on either side of one such line, though each has his own ideas about exactly what the line means. It’s a sweet and silly little short that’s refreshing in its brevity, and what’s more, it sends a valuable message. Check it out here.
- Charlotte Apers’ three-minute She Loved The Place is a dark and unsettling film about how two people can view their relationship in vastly different ways. We get to know the couple in question by seeing the woman and hearing the man – a method that heightens the contrast between them. Apers has crafted a story that is both frightening and deeply, bitterly sad. See the short here (warning: NSFW).
- When I Grow Up, a one-and-a-half-minute short by Colin Hesterly, is a magical journey through the imagination of its creator. It follows a young boy dreaming of his future, backed by a warm, cheery narrator who cheers him – and us – along. Hesterly’s animation style is wonderfully unique, and the whole thing feels like it comes straight from his heart. The film can be found here.
