Career Services is hosting a free workshop on how to strongly enter the workforce and make a good impression during the first day on the job.
The workshop is called “You’re Hired! Now What?” It will be from 1-2 p.m. April 7 in Room 160 in Walker Center for Arts and Sciences.
Career Services hosts a number of workshops and career fairs throughout the semester. Workshops have included resume writing, interviewing skills and mock interviews and how to transition from college to the workplace. Career Services also offers free, private counseling to students to mentor them on choosing a career that is right for them.
“You’re Hired! Now What?” was created to teach students what to do after they have gotten a job.
“This is something we try to do every semester for the students,” said Casey Theivagt, assistant director of career services. “This workshop is designed to prepare for your first day on the job. We will talk about what to wear, what to expect and tips on making a good impression”.
All students are encouraged to attend the workshop. Alumni and graduate students also are welcome. There will not be any employers present because it is a hypothetical workshop and not a career fair, so students do not need to bring a resume.
“Career Services gave us a presentation in ballet on interviews this semester,” said Noelle Bradley, dance management sophomore. “I think it’s really interesting. I’m glad they provide students with this kind of information on getting a job.”
Students with any questions or who want more information should visit the Career Services page on the OCU website at www.okcu.edu/careers/.
