The women’s basketball team defeated St. Gregory’s 115-50 Feb. 19 at Abe Lemons Arena.
The Stars set a season high in 3-pointers made with 14 in total, and tied a season high in with 27 assists, but committed a season low in turnovers with only nine.
The Stars improved to 19-2, 14-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference women’s basketball.
The women scored the most points in a game since defeating Central Christian (Kan.) 133-24 in Novemeber 2012. The Stars have broken the century mark for a third time this season.
OCU built a 19-6 lead while St. Gregory’s missed nine of its first 11 shots.
“It was the best defense we’ve played all year,” Coach Latricia Trammell said. “It was a great 40 minutes of basketball.”
Six Stars scored in double figures, and were led by senior Rateska Brown with 26 points while pulling in four rebounds and dishing a season-high seven assists. Brown nailed six 3-pointers on the night.
Senior Yvonte Neal dropped 22 points, the most since playing Southwestern Christian on Jan. 15, and added six rebounds. Senior Marisha Wallace contributed 17 points and three assists in her first career start as a Star.
The Stars dominated points off turnovers 53-7, bench points 45-10 and fast break points 24-0.
“Everyone contributed in a positive way,” Trammell said. “It was great teamwork and everyone had fun. It was the most enjoyable game I have coached.”
The Stars face USAO at 3 p.m. Feb. 21 at Abe Lemons Arena.
