Career Services is hosting a career and internship fair for students and alumni.
More than 24 companies and organizations, both local and national, will be present for students to interact with. Companies include Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores, Devon Energy, Farmer’s Insurance, Northwestern and Mutual.
“I think it’s very important for any student to attend despite classification,” said Miriam Ortega, marketing junior and career ambassador.
Students can make connections and prepare their resumes for when they are looking for internships or careers, Ortega said.
“It’s better to start early and push yourself to attend this career fair,” Ortega said. “This can be great practice for networking and building connections early on.”
Career Services officials also encourages anyone to visit their offices for resume help and preparation in general.
“We want students to know we’re just as invested in them getting a job as they are,” said Casey Theivagt, assistant director of career services. “We want them to see us as a partner, so we are here to help prepare them as much as possible.”
The career and internship fair will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 10 in the Great Hall in Tom and Brenda McDaniel University Center.
There will be a LinkedIn photo booth for students interested in taking a professional picture for their profile.
“Please consider the advantages to attending,” Theivagt said. “The earlier you get your foot in the door, the better chance you have at getting a good job and employers will see that you have long-term goals. There is really no reason to wait.”
Career Services regularly helps students with resumes and mock interviews during business hours or through appointment.
