University officials recently filled an open position in the alumni relations department.
Dana McBride began her role as coordinator of alumni relations on Dec. 8 after the former coordinator, Jessi Riesenberg, left for a position with the Myriad Botanical Gardens.
McBride is not an alumna of the university, but has experience working in community relations and education. She previously served as special projects coordinator for a new performing arts charter school in Philadelphia.
The goal of the alumni relations coordinator is to connect students with alumni, McBride said.
“If you see me, come up and introduce yourself,” McBride said. “I’m excited to become a part of this community and meet everyone.”
Paty Lopez, stage management sophomore and student engagement coordinator for development, is excited to see what McBride does in this position,
“She’s a younger person, and I think she’ll be great at working with the younger alumni and keeping them involved,” Lopez said.
McBride’s plans for the position include planning events to connect students and alumni, working with the Uptown 23rd, and increasing alumni relations’ presence on social media.
There is now an Instagram account for students and friends of the university to follow. The username for the account is okcualumni.
