The preliminary recommendations of the prioritization process were released to faculty and staff last week.
Students did not receive any of the information or a password to the results.
The prioritization process has been ongoing since the beginning of the academic year. The process is meant to help university officials see how programs use money and where budgets need to be modified.
Several task forces worked on the project and helped evaluate reports filed by university programs.
Paul Gebb, professor of dance and member of the support task force, said the process has required work from staff and faculty in every department.
Students need more information to be supportive of the process, said Beatrize Martinez, criminal justice/economics senior and Student Government Association president.
“We know how hard people have been working on this,” Martinez said.
Students want more information about the process, Martinez said.
“We want to put our support behind it,” Martinez said. “The ambiguity is frustrating.”
The recommendations are being reviewed by the budget managers in each department and then will be sent to the budget committee and university cabinet, Gebb said.
“We are still at the recommendation standpoint,” Gebb said. “These are just recommendations.”
Officials will host several retreats to discuss the information and make final decisions based on the recommendations provided by the task forces.
“Nothing is set in stone until the final decisions have been made,” Gebb said.
Susan Barber, university provost, refused to comment Jan. 22.
