The annual Stargazing Cabaret is hosting their own senior showcase.
The Stargazing Cabaret is a student-organized and student-performed show that happens twice a year, once in the fall semester and once in the spring. The show is done to benefit the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids Organization, which is one of the nation’s leading industry-based fundraising and grant-making organizations.
The fall show is at 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24 in the Great Hall in the Tom and Brenda McDaniel University Center.
The show is free, but raffle tickets will be sold for $1 to raise money for the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids Organization. Local businesses provide gift cards and other prizes for the winner of the drawing. Donations also are encouraged.
“Stargazing is an awesome way for OCU performers to do their part to benefit this great organization,” said Jordan Jacobs, secretary of the Stargazing Cabaret and music theater sophomore.
Usually any student interested in performing at the show is permitted to sign up, but this year’s fall performance is acting as a showcase for the music theater seniors.
All senior music majors are encouraged to sign up as well. If interested, contact Kaley Were music theater senior and president of the Stargazing Cabaret, by emailing her at kmwere@my.okcu.edu. Any other students who aren’t seniors, but are interested, can sign up in the spring.
“It’s a good opportunity for people to perform or just see all the great talent we have at this school,” Were said. “It’s a night of music and fun, and people should come out and see it.”
