A student is urging his classmates to be careful while off campus after he and his roommates were robbed at gunpoint.
At about 11:30 p.m. Oct. 14, a student living in a house in the 2000 block of N.E 16th ordered a pizza with his three roommates and guests while they were studying for midterms. About 45 minutes later, the doorbell rang, but no one was at the door.
The student assumed the pizza delivery person had left, but saw a woman, described as a black female wearing a hoodie. She then asked if she could use the student’s phone. As the student reached for his phone, a black male, also in his 20s, came from his left and put a gun to the student’s head and said “you know what’s going on,” according to the police report.
The man backed the student through the front door. The student yelled for his roommates, who were able to escape through the backdoor and run to a nearby gas station while calling 911.
Another black man went into their house, taking three laptop computers, two gaming systems, a wallet, a cellphone, and an unknown amount of cash.
“It was the scariest moment of my life,” said a student studying at the house at the time. “It sucks that their stuff was taken, but everyone is alive and well, and that’s all that matters.”
Oklahoma City police arrived at the residence a couple minutes after the suspects left. There were no leads as of presstime, according to OKCPD.
The student and his roommates terminated their lease early and moved.
This is not the first time the student was burglarized at the same house. About six months ago, the house was broken into while no one was home.
