- Martin Scorsese will serve as executive producer on an upcoming authorized documentary on The Grateful Dead, directed by Amir Bar-Lev. “The Grateful Dead were more than just a band,” Scorsese said. “They were their own planet, populated by millions of devoted fans. - AMC plans to invest $200 million to buy a 49.9% stake in BBC America. AMC will also have operational control over the network. The deal is part of AMC’s effort to bring attention to smaller channels such as IFC, We TV and Sundance. “The value of premium content and smart television is going to grow, and we felt that there was a really compelling logic to create a company that has scale in the area of smart television,” said Tim Davie, BBC Worldwide’s chief executive. - The Weinstein Company and Will Ferrell’s Gloria Sanchez Prods. will be teaming up to produce screenwriter April Prosser’s Plus One.
