The rowing team competed in the women’s championship singles race Saturday, in the 50th Head of the Charles on the Charles River in Boston, and senior Liz Mathews became the top collegiate finisher.
Mathews turned in a time of 21 minutes and 30.530 seconds in the 4,800 meter race. She finished in 20th place in a field that included many of the world’s finest scullers.
“She is early in her journey in elite rowing,” Coach Liz Dickson said. “But has potential, if she puts in the time and effort training after she graduates.”
The rowing team is fighting for its fifth consecutive overall team points trophy in the Head of the Hooch Nov. 1-2 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
