OCU has extended the deadline for taking the Campus Climate Survey. Students, faculty, and staff now have until February 15 to complete the survey.
The survey addresses questions about general viewpoints, actions, and standards on the OCU campus.
“It’s kind of a benchmark of how we’re doing in those specific areas,” said Sandra Pantlik, senior director of university communications.
Students who complete the survey are entered for a chance to win a $100 and a $250 gift card to the campus store.
“We are number one interested in what our campus community thinks and how things are going, and number two some of the issues that are addressed in the climate survey are extremely important,” Pantlik said.
The survey takes about 30 minutes and all responses are anonymous.
“We chose to do the survey now because the Department of Education and Department of Justice have outlined some best practices regarding climate matters in their letters to the University of Montana,” Pantlik said.
The university will use the results of the survey to address issues as well as strengths on campus.
“This is a way for us to take a snapshot and take what we learn and turn it into real policy and change,” Pantlik said.
Provost Susan Barber and President Henry sent out a letter encouraging the campus to take this survey. A second email with the link to the survey was sent on Jan. 31.
“A lot of the questions actually made me very uncomfortable,” said Victoria Trujillo, music junior. “I felt like some of the questions were very pointed.”
