The fraternity Phi Gamma Delta is hosting its philanthropy week this week.
The group had a bake sale outside of the caf Monday.
They are hosting a dodgeball tournament at 8 p.m. today in Henry J. Freede Wellness and Activity Center.
To end the week, the group will host a cookout from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday under the Team One Pavilion, next to the volleyball court.
The cost for the cookout is $5.
The money raised will go toward the American Red Cross.
The fraternity hosted a philanthropy week for United Service Organizations last semester.
The week of events included a bake sale, a video game tournament and a spaghetti dinner.
After the success of last semester’s philanthropy, Ryan Carroll, Phi Gamma Delta’s philanthropy chairman, has been awaiting this week of events.
“We are excited to have this week for the newer philanthropy,” Carroll said.
Phi Gamma Delta has two national philanthropies: the American Red Cross and USO.
The fraternity works hard to support both philanthropies, Carroll said.
“I don’t know why we have two, but it’s cool, because we can give extra,” Carroll said.
The group plans another event for USO in the spring.
“It gives us an opportunity to step back from our lives and focus on helping others,” said Jacob Overling, business administration sophomore and Phi Gamma Delta member.
