When looking for help with funding, students and organizations have the opportunity to turn to student government.
Student Governmnet Association has the ability to give out money to organizations through allotments.
This year, Student Senate has about $12,000 in allotments to give to organizations
An organization can receive money to help for events, trips or other expenses through an application process and an appearance in Student Senate.
Student Senate has decided to change the way they run the allotments process.
The members of the allotments committee suspended all the bylaws dealing with allotments, and are planning to restructure the way organizations can apply for additional funds.

SGA had a goal to have a more transparent presence on campus, and this is a step in the right direction.
Organizations will hopefully find more stability in the new allotments process once it is in place.
While it is not clear why this change was not done earlier in the semester, or during the summer when money was not a pressing issue for some organizations, it is important to recognize SGA is working to improve the process.
Oragnizations should look to see SGA taking more steps toward accessibility and making it easier for organizations to get financial assistance.
