Oklahoma City University finished second place in the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic on Tuesday at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
The defending NAIA women’s accumulated a 301-294-301–896 to finish one stroke behind Redlands, the NJCAA runner-up last season.
Elia Folch, a senior from Barcelona, Spain, posted a fourth-place 74-74-70–218 for OCU. Folch saved par 40 times in the 54 holes. She finished four shots behind Redlands’ Lina Aguillon.
Caroline Goodin, a freshman, finished seventh with a 75-71-79–225 for the Stars. Kailey Campbell, a freshman from Oktaha, Okla., knotted for eighth with a 77-73-76–226. Campbell nailed one of three eagles in the tournament.
Anna Mikish, a freshman from Choctaw, Okla., provided the Stars with a 75-76-76–227, and Katie-Lee Wilson, a freshman from Owasso, Okla., had a 78-78-82–238.
Stars playing as individuals were Abby Thompson (78-75-79–232), Raegan Barnes (85-77-81–243) and Taylor Cusack (85-84-82–251).
The par-72, 6,004-yard layout saw temperatures reach 83 degrees with winds up to 16 mph before the end of play.
The Stars compete next in the Lousiana-Monroe Fred Marx Invitational on Sept. 23-24 at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, La.
