The Stars are home from Orange Beach, Ala., after being upset 2-1 by Texas-Brownsville in the second round of the NAIA Championship.
The women’s soccer team ended their run with a 20-2 season.
“Words can’t express how heartbroken I am that things went the way they did,” said Meghan McMahon. “We win as a team and we lose as a team, and I wouldn’t trade my team for anything in the world.”
Texas-Brownsville and Oklahoma City were scoreless at the half. Texas-Brownsville scored first, and junior forward McMahon wasn’t far behind to tie the game, making the score 1-1. In the 89th minute Texas-Brownsville closed the game out 2-1. The Stars beat the team earlier in the year 4-0.
Five seniors ended their career Nov. 26: defender Niku Bayatfar, forward Sheridan Horner, defender Rachael O’Brien, defender Brenna Skillern and midfielder Hollis St. John.
“Our nightmare happened tonight,” senior forward Sheridan Horner said. “But I have no choice but to stay positive and be thankful for all of these opportunities God has given me.”
