Oklahoma City University hosted the Back-to-School Bash on August 22, welcoming back the student body. The Student Activities Council, or SAC, organized a fun-filled evening to help students acclimate to being on campus.
Attendees visited over 50 booths set up by student organizations, departments, and off-campus employers. Festive, free attractions such as Nine Square, human hamster balls, and an air bungee jump were also available. Participants checked in for a wristband that granted access to the festivities—the wristband also provided students with free food and beverages.
Various student organizations had the opportunity to grow and connect with new students on campus. The organizations represented ranged from fraternities and sororities to OCU Religious life and more: Kappa Sigma, Alpha Chi Omega, OCU Jewish Stars, Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Student Government Association, and OCU Black Student Association were a handful of the many on-campus clubs and entities present.
The Catholic Student Association has experienced tremendous growth over the last year with the help from events such as the Back-to-School bash. Audrey Logan, who is President of CSA said, “It has been wonderful to see CSA grow! We’ve only been around for a few years, so the fact that our numbers have doubled in size this year is incredible.”
Equally, OCU students could meet new people on campus while growing their student life bubble.
“Yeah, it was a pretty successful night for the school. We got to see most of the new freshmen from orientation. It was great to see everybody have a fun night and network.” Said Kappa Sigma member Ryan Smith.
Additionally, the Oklahoma City University student body had a great night connecting and having fun before classes ramped up. Professors, faculty, and staff wish OCU students a great semester as they resume studies and extracurricular activities.
Good luck in the new semester, Stars!
