Managing Editor
Welcome back, Stars! As the new school year begins, I am excited to introduce myself to all of you. My name is Kyah Alexander, and I will be the Managing Editor for the campus newspaper this year!
A little about me: I am a junior double majoring in Political Science and Mass Communications (Multimedia Journalism and Broadcast Production). Last year, I joined Student Publications as a staff writer for the news beat!
I currently serve as President of the Oklahoma City University NAACP and as Director of Marketing for the Honors Program. I also have the privilege to serve as a Presidential Ambassador for OCU.
As your Managing Editor for the 2024-2025 year, I aim to commit to every single student on this campus and be a voice for the students here at Oklahoma City University. I desire to share the stories that matter to us all. Each of us here at Oklahoma City University has a story worth telling, big or small.
Whether that be reporting important milestones, celebrating our student-athletes, applauding the achievements of our performing arts students, or highlighting the work of different departments.
I am dedicated to ensuring every student feels seen and heard, regardless of major, background, or year. The stories that each one of us carries are worth sharing, telling, and listening.
My door (or email) is always open to hear the ideas, concerns, or stories you care about. My promise to every student is that I will listen for and seek the untold and hidden stories. I want to ensure every student can see themselves and their experiences highlighted and reflected. I want every student to feel a sense of belonging and pride when they read The Campus. I’m excited to grow and connect with you all through the stories we will share.
Editor-In-Chief
Howdy, students, faculty, and staff of Oklahoma City University. Devin Anthony Ellington here. I am the new Editor-In-Chief of The Campus.
Firstly, how about some background information on who I am? I am a junior studying Mass Communications, focusing on Broadcasting and Journalism and double majoring in Political Science. Last semester, I joined Student Publications as a Staff Writer and Sports Editor.
I work closely with the athletics department as an Assistant Coach and the Executive Analytical Advisor for the Stars’ men’s basketball team. I am also the Assistant Sports Information Director for OCU. Lastly, I am Co-President of the campus environmental club Blue Goes Green and a member of SGA.
I cannot express my excitement about having the tremendous honor of being the soundboard for OCU’s voices. It is imperative that the student body, in conjunction with the faculty and staff, be heard—I aim to do just that and beyond.
Leadership is one of the most important things to me, and I cherish each moment of leading those around me. Being selected to take the helm of Student Publications has inspired me to become a better leader.
As your Editor-In-Chief for the 2024-25 school year, I will prioritize the platform of our story as a campus. I will always strive to tell the stories that matter most and do so with abundant integrity. I will operate with ears, eyes, and mind open to report on what matters most on our campus–YOU!
In parting, I want to reiterate exactly how important you are as a person. I would like to leave you with a quote from yours truly: “Only when you realize that you don’t have to do it all are you truly able to do so much more.”
