OCU is a special school containing hundreds of special individuals.
Growing up in two college towns led me to believe that the college experience was just partying and blowing off class, but OCU contains a different breed of student.
The small community feel and dedicated student population create a unique atmosphere, with a mix of performers, student-athletes and everyone in between, there is literally something for everyone on campus.
It makes it easy for students to extend their interests and get involved in campus activities, with tons of student organizations, performances and games to catch.
The small residence halls provide a great space for students to create new lifelong friendships and new opportunities to support each other.
The size of the university is helped by the caring faculty and staff, people who genuinely want you to succeed, people who understand why OCU is nicknamed “Over-Committed University”, people who recognize you as more than a student, people who understand that beneath every grade is a person.
The faculty, staff and student population create a perfect harmony of people who care for one another, check in with others and create a base of support despite the numerous challenges that occur when you have to navigate your degree, your sport or your dedication to your organization.
I believe that Oklahoma City University is unlike any other college in Oklahoma, continuing to carve out a name for itself in high schools across the country.
Despite living in Oklahoma for twenty years, it wasn’t until my junior year of high school when OCU was revealed to me as Kathryn-Ximena Rojas burst into my choir class proudly exclaiming that she was accepted.
As this university continues to excel in what I believe it does best, cultivating growth in people, the future remains bright for the Stars.
