Recently, Oklahoma City University hosted its annual Campus Leadership Awards, honoring students, student organizations and organization advisors.
Several new awards were introduced this year, including New Organization of the Year, Content Creator of the Year, and Student Government Association Leader of the Year.
This remarkable moment for students also marked a pivotal moment for members of the SGA.
Before the ceremony ended, Chief Justice of the Student Court, Sonny Tabor took the podium in the Great Hall, introducing the next SGA Administration.
Tabor initiated the inauguration with Korbin Cardoza and Fares Maarouf, the new SGA President and Vice President, winners of the ultimately uncontested race.
He also invited outgoing President, Anthony Carranza, and Vice President, Tate Smithhart, to the podium.
They each shared congratulatory and motivational sentiments with Cardoza and Maarouf before Tabor officially swore the new administration into office.
Following the new administration’s first remarks in their new roles, Tabor invited the next class of Student Senators to the front of the room to be sworn in next.
They each ran uncontested as well, deterring an official election process, many of them entering their second year on the Student Senate.
After the inauguration, the awards ceremony concluded shortly after with the announcement of the last two awards of the night.
Students, families, faculty and staff were all present to celebrate, with several of them taking celebratory photos together at the night’s end.
