In a thrilling final game of his college basketball career, Oklahoma City University senior, Brandon Jackson, made a lasting impression on the court, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to excellence.
In his final appearance for the OCU Stars, Jackson not only led his team to victory but also broke the program record for the most three-pointers in a single game. His seven rebounds and astounding 43 points further underscored his dominance on the court.
Reflecting on his impressive collegiate career, Jackson expressed gratitude for the opportunities and support he received during his time at OCU. “My teammates and coaches’ main influence on me has to be the confidence they’ve instilled in me. They see the work I put in daily, and they did a great job of keeping me confident and having a positive mindset.”
Coach Mark Berokoff was equally proud of his work, “I think Brandan‘s lasting Legacy will be that he graduated with a great degree. He participated in community service with us, he was a great leader on a very young team this year.”
In addition to his remarkable performance in his final game, Jackson’s contributions to the team did not go unnoticed by the conference. His stellar play throughout the season earned him the title of SAC Honorable Mention, further highlighting his impact on the basketball program and the broader collegiate sports community.
His remarkable achievements on the court serve as an inspiration to his teammates and aspiring athletes alike, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered for years to come. Brandon stated “OCU has so many records that are very hard to break and you have to be extremely fortunate to break those records. For me, my goal coming here was to leave my mark and legacy on this university and I think I did that.”
As Jackson prepares to graduate from OCU, his legacy as a standout athlete and leader within the basketball program will undoubtedly endure. Brandon gave some last good pieces of advice, “Basketball is an unpredictable sport and you never know what problems can come your way. Which is similar to life. My college career has allowed me to be able to keep the same mindset and be able to handle adversity and make it into a positive situation.”
Coach Berokoff said “We are definitely going to miss Brandon on the team, he was a two-time all-conference player and finished in a lot of categories in the top 10 for a single season and career stats. He ended his college career in a way that most people would only dream about, having the three-point record for a game.”
With his time at OCU ending, Brandon Jackson leaves behind a legacy defined by excellence, perseverance, and a passion for the game, setting a high standard for future generations of OCU basketball players to strive towards.
