When someone says spring in Oklahoma, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
Looking beyond allergy season and swatting past the new batch of bugs, there is a promise of new adventure in the air.
When it comes to campus life, there are many entertaining activities just around the corner, utilizing the warmer temps and sunshine.
At OCU, spring brings students out onto the quad with its pink and white blossoming trees for lawn games, studying, tanning, picnicking, hammocking and simply talking with friends. The seemingly quiet campus comes alive as people linger in the warmth of the sun.
You too can take advantage of the sunshine on the quad by attending the Miracle Marathon’s Kickback on Tuesday, April 2 at 5 pm. Come support your fellow peers as they advocate for children’s health.
Additionally, Blue Goes Green’s Earth Week Kickoff is on Monday, April 22 at 4 p.m., also on the quad. There will be music, lawn games and painting of tote bags to celebrate this occasion.
For those looking to venture off-campus, check out Lake Hefner, which is a favorite nature spot among locals and visitors alike. Walk or bike the trails with the lake just feet away and feel the breeze coming across the glassy surface of the water.
If you need to add color to your life, Myriad Botanical Gardens is the place for you, offering student discounts for conservatory admission and no charge to walk the exterior grounds.
There is nothing better than eating outdoors in the fresh air, and this amazing city has a wide variety of al fresco dining spots including Flint, Museum Café, Pizzeria Gusto and The Hutch on Avondale.
So, take a study break, grab a friend and get outside!
