The campus community that Oklahoma City University has is unique and is spurred on by two main factors: the small size of the school and students supporting students.
Between performance majors that allow students to showcase their talents through productions, the twenty-two different sports the university offers, the countless clubs and student organizations that allow students to explore their interests and get involved with their community and anything in between, OCU offers something for everyone almost all the time.
This only works, however, when students support each other.
In 2022, the university had just over 2,400 undergraduate and graduate students enrolled, with most undergraduate classes containing less than twenty students.
Compared to the estimated 26,000 students enrolled at Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma’s 28,000 enrolled students, it’s easy to see that the small size of our institution allows for more intimate connections all across campus.
This allows for a much closer-knit community of support between athletes, performers and student leaders.
Students are able to make and strengthen relationships with a variety of personalities, allowing for more opportunities for everyone to grow as people and learn to enjoy new things.
Students supporting students isn’t something new to this university, but it is something that should continue to be pushed for.
The opportunity to support your friends on the stage, in the field, on the court and through events is something that makes the OCU community run, so when you have the chance to enjoy a concert, catch a game, watch a show or participate in a student organization, go and support your fellow stars.
