Oklahoma City University’s Housing and Residence Life have welcomed a new individual to the team, Darius Morris, who has stepped into the position of Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) for Methodist Hall.
It is a pivotal moment for the university and the residential community, and Darius will be contributing his substantial background and knowledge to the OCU community.
Morris has expressed to The Campus how thrilled he is to join the department.
His motivation to further his career at OCU centers around his desire to return to higher education, like his time at Cameron University, where he was a resident assistant for Cameron’s University Housing Department.
When asked what strengths or qualities he believes he will bring to the OCU community, he states, “I like to think that I have an uncanny ability to reach a wide, diverse group of people that undoubtedly make up the student body of OCU Housing.
My excitement and gregarious personality enable me to reach students in an authentic fashion.
My youth also makes me mindful of my recent experiences, and I like to think I can be seen as someone not too far removed from the students.
I also have a willingness to relentlessly advocate for the needs of the students in all matters.
These things make me confident that the RAs and students will inevitably benefit from my time on campus,” Morris said.
Morris is committed to fostering a supportive and vibrant student atmosphere. When asked what he plans to aim for during the upcoming academic year, he states, “I am making sure that the RAs actually spend time on their floors and in their community.”
“It is impossible to know and help your residents if you are not accessible. The job necessitates RAs engaging their residents to ensure that every resident has an enjoyable experience.”
Morris hopes to bring a new and fresh perspective to OCU.
