The first show to take on the Kirkpatrick stage this semester is the Bass School of Music mainstage opera, The Merry Wives of Windsor.
The Merry Wives of Windsor is a Shakespearean comedy that follows the character Sir John Falstaff as he tries to seduce two married women in order to gain access to their husbands.
However, the wives, Mistress Ford and Mistress Page outwit Falstaff with comedic and mischievous antics.
Performed in entirely in German with supertitles, the play explores themes of love, jealousy, and the weakness of human nature, providing a depiction of the social dynamics of Elizabethan England.
With inspiration drawn from the 1970s, the story ended with a climactic disco number choreographed by Kat Sweeney.
The show is being directed by Karen Miller with designs by Robin Vest-Coleman, scenic, Kennedy Nichols, lighting, Alyssa Couturier-Herndon, costumes, and Lauren McPherson, props.
The show dates are Feb. 16-18. Tickets are available now both online and in the box office located in the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment.
We hope that you enjoy the show!
