On April 3, the Oklahoma City University Double Bass Ensemble performed at their Bass-O-Rama 28 double bass concert. The concert was performed in the Bass Music Center.
The concert featured a duet by Georg Philipp Telemann, which was performed by Robert Gonzalez and Jessica Cubedo. It also featured a quartet by Daryl Runswick, a modern English composer, that was performed by Robert Gonzalez, Jackson Burnette, Jessica Cubedo, and Tanner Thomas.
There was also an original piece that was both composed and performed by Sarin Sagar. The concert ended with a finale of three works that were performed by Robert Gonzalez, Tanner Thomas, Jackson Burnette, Jessica Cubedo, Sarin Sagar, Nicholas Quinnie, McKay Clark, Ben Askren, Darien Barton and Landon Honolka.
Director John Schimek said, “Bass-O-Rama was created to introduce the double bass possibilities beyond just playing in the orchestra and to allow the bass students to display their musicianship and technical prowess in a fun atmosphere. Bass-O-Rama will take place in April 2023.”
