This summer, Oklahoma City University will host two “Broadway Bound Dance Camps.” One will be held virtually from June 13- 17, while an on-campus camp will be held from July 6- 16.
While the name of the camp might suggest that dance techniques used on Broadway would be the only ones taught, there will be a wide range of different techniques. The classes will be taught by OCU faculty, and the dances taught include tap, jazz, and ballet. The camps will offer both in-person and online classes. There are final performances for family and friends to showcase what the dancers have learned.
According to the organizers, the camp is meant to emulate what one might experience as a Dance and Entertainment major at OCU. During the week and a half camp, dancers will be able to stay in the Oklahoma United Methodist Hall dormitory with meals served at the Dining Hall.
The organizers say the camp is aimed at enhancing technical skills and personal growth. They state the camp will prepare participants to dance professionally, give insight into college life and create connections with campers and staff.
The final deadline to register for the virtual camp is June 8, while the deadline to register for the in-person camp is June 22nd.
