OKCU Miracle Marathon is hosting a “For the Kids” carnival.
Miracle Marathon is an organization that was established to raise funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The fundraiser is done by hosting dance marathons at different locations around the nation in April.
Miracle Marathon’s saying is “For the Kids,” or “FTK,” because its primary goal is to raise money for kids in the children’s hospital.
OCU took part in their first Miracle Marathon last year and has decided to continue participation in the fundraiser again this year.
Edyn Rolls, MBA graduate, is a current member of OCU’s Miracle Marathon team.
Rolls said OCU’S Miracle Marathon team decided put together a push event, to get the word out about the fundraiser and get students involved.
“The carnival is not exactly a new event; last year was the first year OCU participated in the fundraiser, and around this time last year we did a similar event to spread the word with games styled like minute to win it,” said Rolls.
Rolls said this year the carnival will be held 8-10 p.m. on Nov. 4 and will have raffles, pumpkin painting, popcorn, cotton candy, an auction, and more.
“Before the carnival starts, throughout the day, there will be different events to support the fundraiser,” said Rolls.
Rolls said the team specifically chose the date to be able to say it is “4th the kids”.
“Each participant’s goal will be to raise $44 by the end of the night,” said Rolls.
Katelyn Curtin, acting junior, is also a member of Miracle Marathon team.
Curtin said the push day will also have other ways for students to get involved besides the carnival.
“On Nov. 4, there will be a give back night at Panda Express, and the following day there will be coffee on the quad,” said Curtin.
Curtin and Rolls both said the carnival will be free for students if they have already registered for Miracle Marathon, but if not, the carnival will cost $5.
“There will be many incentives and prizes at the carnival for the people who have already registered,” said Curtin.
Curtin said the goal to achieve from the carnival is to raise $1,000 total, or, as Rolls said, $44 per participant.
