Oklahoma City University is in for a scare this Halloween season.
The Spirit Squad is hosting a haunted house on October 28th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm in the Henry J. Freede Wellness and Activity Center themed around the popular Netflix show “Stranger Things”.
“We are bringing our own rendition and version of ‘Stranger Things’,” said Karly Judkins, head stunt coach. “It’s kind of like all the seasons combined not one specific season.”
The haunted house will not be the only thing that the Spirit Squad is putting together this Halloween season, there will also be a Halloween carnival that students can attend.
“In addition to the haunted house, we will have a Halloween carnival outside,” Judkins said. “We will have different carnival games and different activities, arts and crafts, food trucks, different things like that.”
Judkins said the Spirit Squad will be charging admission, $5 to get into the carnival and $10 to get into the haunted house.
The food trucks’ wares will be separate for purchase from the rest of the carnival, with a variety of sponsors, Judkins said.
“We will have a few different sponsors that are coming in,” Judkins said. “There’s a pasta one and then we have a whole snow cone truck.”
Students thought that the event would be a great opportunity for Oklahoma City University.
“I think it’s a huge opportunity for our school,” said Maggie Hirsekorn marketing senior. “I think it will bring a lot of attention, and I think we can get a lot of families and the community involved.”
Hireskorn was said she was excited to bring some Halloween spirit to the campus.
“I think that it is a big opportunity for us to spread enjoyment and some spookiness around the campus,” Hirsekorn said.
