The university’s provost and associate provost are leaving their administrative positions.
The transition was announced to faculty in a May 17 email from President Martha Burger.
Dr. Kent Buchanan, former provost, will return to the faculty to teach in Spring 2020 after taking a sabbatical in the fall. Dr. David Steffens, associate provost, also will return to the faculty to teach in the fall.
Dr. Amy Cataldi, dean of the Petree College of Arts and Sciences, was appointed by Burger to be the acting assistant provost.
“She will serve in this additional role while continuing her responsibilities as Dean,” Burger wrote.
Officials are conducting a search process to find an interim provost. The position will be filled by someone outside of OCU no later than mid-June, Burger wrote.
“I will keep the OCU community updated on the progress of this appointment and future initiatives,” Burger wrote.
Steffens refused to comment May 17. Buchanan and Cataldi were unavailable for comment May 30.
