The time between Spring Break and the end of the year might seem like a breeze for some seniors. However, for a senior dance major like me, these six weeks have been crunch time for all of my final projects and duties at school! I still wanted to visit a new business this week, but I also needed to balance my time and get some work done. So, like any good student would do, I did a little bit of multi-tasking and tested the take-out experience of OSO Paseo while working on a project.
During my last shift of work on Monday, I scrolled through OSO’s website and decided on what sounded the best. Walking home, I called the restaurant and requested a to-go order. The server on the other end was very efficient and helpful, and gave me the full list of sides when I requested it. I ended up ordering a pick-two of their street tacos (one with chorizo and one with sweet potato) with black beans and street corn. I didn’t love that the street corn cost extra as a side, especially because I found out when paying once I got there.
The building is NOT well marked, and I am tired of this “hidden restaurant” trend! They share a lot with Buttermilk (see my review of Buttermilk here), and their sign is small in comparison to the size of the building and the accessibility. I ended up parking in the wrong lot, which wasn’t a huge deal since I was only picking up my order. The restaurant isn’t very big inside; only maybe 10 tables and bar seating. However, the place was busy but not overcrowded. I was helped immediately, and the servers were warm and polite.
I sat down to my spread on my couch about 15 minutes later. By far, the best part of the meal was the street corn, and absolutely worth the extra three dollars. The corn is topped with an ample helping of cotija cheese and crushed Takis, and I could have eaten three containers full. Both of the tacos were very flavorful and good, and the black beans were lackluster. This meal made a great accompaniment to an intense study session.
This meal was around $18 including tip. For tacos, this is pretty pricey, even in Oklahoma City. I wasn’t amazed with the quality of the food, but I would like to go back and try some of the other interesting menu options that I passed on this time. I give this restaurant a 6.5/10.
