Stitch OKC:
A new hidden gem exists downtown for coffee lovers and worker bees called Stitch OKC. The parking, the drinks and the overall atmosphere of the shop really impressed me, and I can’t wait to go back.
I went to the shop on a Thursday night, during prime Bricktown business hours. Knowing how difficult parking can be downtown, I figured I would have to pay to park. However, Stitch OKC was far enough north of Harkins that there was ample parking behind the building.
Walking up to the building, I wasn’t sure exactly where the shop was, because the building my map led me to had a church’s name on it. I found out from the barista that Stitch OKC doesn’t actually own the building but rents from a nonprofit and shares the space with a local church.
At 7:30 p.m., the shop was almost completely empty. I asked the barista what drink I should get, and he knew right away what drinks to suggest. He was super easy to talk to, and we had a light chat about coffee and life. I ended up picking a fall herbal tea with almond and cinnamon flavors. The drink was absolutely fantastic and was brewed with loose leaf tea, which automatically impressed me. Between the tea I drank and the conversation with the barista, I already felt really good about this shop.
Once I got my tea, I sat down on a couch in the middle of the shop. The shop was divided into three parts: the conference table in the front, a four-top table area and a sofa alcove. It’s filled with small plants and simple décor, and it felt very cool yet understated. I was able to find an outlet quickly for my laptop. The shop shares the church’s Wi-Fi, so I logged on and enjoyed their impressively fast connection. For an hour, I worked in peace and uploaded my StellaNova review (view this article here). For a moment, I forgot I was downtown. There was very little noise from the street, and the shop had a soothing jazz selection playing as background music. Who doesn’t feel classier and more productive while listening to jazz?
Overall, I praise Stitch OKC for meeting the needs of students and working adults who are looking for a place to chill out and focus. I felt like I could relax and focus here. Stitch OKC hit the mark on everything I look for in a coffee shop, and I would give them a 9/10.
If you know of a new local business in the area and would like me to review it, let me know in the comments!
