The Wanda L. Bass School of music’s second show of the semester was the spotlight opera, The Bartered Bride. The story focuses on the couple, “Marie” and “Jeník.” When Marie is forced into an arranged marriage, Jeník must win her back by outsmarting the marriage broker.
The opera had performances March 2-4 in the Burg Theatre in Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center.
- Ben Johnston, vocal performance freshman, and Sydney Valaer, vocal performance/music theater freshman, sing in the opening number.
- Hannah Kilpatrick and Kyle Rudolph, vocal performance juniors, play “Marie” and “Jeník.”
- PT Mahoney, music theater senior, wagers with Nadjalie Santos, vocal performance freshman, and Eric Capelle, vocal performance senior.
- Hannah Kilpatrick, vocal performance junior, finds out about her arranged marriage from PT Mahoney, music theater senior; Eric Capelle, vocal performance senior, and Nadjalie Santos, vocal performance freshman.
- David Garcia, vocal performance/music theater sophomore, fights with Rachel Weisbart, vocal performance/music theater junior.
- Jason Gonzalez Larsen, music theater freshman, and Mark Munoz, vocal performance freshman, have drinks together.
- Stewart Ottersberg Enriquez, vocal performance senior, plays “Vašek.”
- PT Mahoney, music theater junior, makes a deal with Kyle Rudolf, vocal performance junior.
- The ensemble reacts to the deal.
- Patricia Irwin, vocal performance/music theater junior, and Mark Munoz, vocal performance freshman, convince Stewart Ottersberg Enriquez, vocal performance senior, to join their act.
- Rachel Weisbart, vocal performance/music theater junior plays the mother of Stewart Ottersberg Enriquez, vocal performance senior.
- PT Mahoney, music theater senior, is thwarted.
