The Wanda L. Bass School of Music’s first mainstage of the year was the world premiere of Thomas Pasatieri’s The Vaudevillian.
The opera is about “Rosa Carini,” a vaudeville performer, and her journey to becoming an opera singer. The story is based off the career of a real opera singer, Rosa Ponselle. The show had performances Feb. 16-18 in Kirkpatrick Auditorium in the Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center.

- Joshua Kelley, music theater sophomore, complains of a disastrous rehearsal, as Emily Holguin, music theater/vocal performance junior, and Ryan Allais, opera performance graduate, look on.
- Jackson Holtkamp, vocal performance sophomore, and Emily Holguin, music theater/vocal performance junior, sing a love duet.
- Marcus Canada, music theater sophomore, and Anna Lasbury, music theater junior, do a swordplay act.
- Elise O’Connell, music theater junior, and Shendra Stevens, music theater/vocal performance sophomore, play “Claire” and “Mrs. Harrison.”
- Yu He, opera performance graduate, plays “Jerome.”
- Emily Holguin, music theater/vocal performance senior, goes in disguise to visit the Harrison family.
