Mariah Kalka, dance sophomore, shares some of her holiday thoughts and traditions.
Q: If you were a turkey, what would your name be?
A: Theresa
Q: Would you be offended or honored to be the featured bird of the holiday?
A: That depends. Am I going to get eaten? I’d be apprehensive.
Q: If you could only eat one Thanksgiving food for the whole holiday, which would you pick?
A: Any kind of potato.
Q: Do you know any Thanksgiving songs?
A: No
Q: If you made one up, what would it be called?
A: “The Itis.” It’d be a song about when you want to take a nap after you eat.
Q: What is the worst holiday?
A: I don’t think there is a bad one.
Q: What’s your favorite holiday?
A: My family does the same thing for all of them, so I don’t know. We always eat, then nap, then play games. There’s something extra for each holiday, like presents for Christmas, egg coloring for Easter, fireworks for the Fourth of July, etc. I like it all.
Q: What games do you play?
A: Mexican Trains, Uno, whatever people bring.
Q: What are you most thankful for at OCU?
A: The parking garage, so if it hails, my car won’t get damaged. I love my car. Her name is Tiffany.
Q: What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened at your family’s Thanksgiving?
A: My boyfriend had to brake really hard on his car during one break, and his speaker almost went through his windshield.
Q: Does your family have any weird holiday traditions?
A: We take lots of naps.
