Betty, the 89 year-old Catholic Sunday school teacher, loves keeping up with the news (via newspapers and radio) and sharing her opinions with her classes.
News: British minister Damian Green denies allegations of pornography found on his work computer.
Betty’s thoughts: Thank the Lord he’s no prime minister of mine! He obviously must not be Catholic, but I hope he makes it to confession. Jesus heals. Pornography destroys.
News: Man arrested for assaulting Sen. Rand Paul at home.
Betty’s thoughts: Of course, I don’t condone violence unless it’s in the name of the Him, and I do wish it would’ve been a Democrat, but I’m grateful that is wasn’t Mr. Jim Inhofe who was hurt. Now that is a man I respect. Mr. Inhofe’s use of a snowball to disprove global warming was simply brilliant.
News: Papa John’s officials consider ending NFL sponsorship, tell racists not to buy their pizza.
Betty’s thoughts: I’m no racist. I have lots of friends from my mission trip to Mexico. But I’m more of a Digiorno woman myself.
News: Factory workers in Turkey are writing notes for help and slipping them into Zara merchandise.
Betty’s thoughts: What is Zara? I’ll pray for the workers, but this is why I sew my own clothes. For formal events, I sometimes go to Coldwater Creek.
News: Sprint and T-Mobile potential merger falls apart.
Betty’s thoughts: Just like church and state. It’s a shame.
News: A woman won the New York City Marathon for the first time since 1977.
Betty’s thoughts: Oh, my, good for her. I don’t remember the last time I went for a run, but I stay in pretty good shape by repeatedly kneeling and standing at mass three times a day.
News: Elderly doctor loses license because she can’t use a computer.
Betty’s thoughts: I relate to her pain. Parishioners tried to force me to use technology in my Sunday teachings, but I shut down that blasphemy and stopped letting them push me around.
News: Fertility expert announces possibility of a uterus transplant.
Betty’s thoughts: I always support the bearing of children, as long as the parents are on the Catholic family plan and have a calling from God.
