Bailey Huerta, acting sophomore, shares her experiences and thoughts on topics from flirting to superstition.
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: Basically, I got picked up from pre-K to first grade in a stroller. My grandma can’t drive, but she lived close to the elementary school. It felt great.
Q: If you were cast as the lead in a new movie, what would the movie title be?
A: “Supporting Character Playing the Lead.”
Q: What is your ultimate life dream?
A: Ooh, I’ve got a lot. Just being happy in whatever I’m doing. I’d love to be in a movie with Jonah Hill.
Q: If you were given a slightly larger-than-life stop sign, where would you put it?
A: I’d try to ask my friends if I can hang it in our living room, just as a quirky decor.
Q: Please describe your ideal firstborn child (even if you don’t ever want children).
A: She’s a girl. She’s got chubby cheeks like me and curly hair, even though that doesn’t run in my family. She’s cute and cool, and we’re best buds. We ride tandem bicycles together.
Q: Please use a food metaphor to describe your life.
A: Cheap takeout.
Q: What was your favorite childhood story?
A: I really liked Arthur and the Berenstain Bears. There was a Berenstain Bears story where they ate too much candy, and I’d reread that one.
Q: How superstitious are you, on a scale of one to 10?
A: I’m a solid seven. If I have a crush, I suddenly decide horoscopes are very real. Black cats can’t walk in front of me, and if I spill salt, I have to throw it over my shoulder.
Q: Have you ever done something for the sake of comedy and then immediately regretted it?
A: Yes. I think something is going to be funny and then it doesn’t always register with people. It just turns into me dancing, and then I look around and… crickets.
Q: What is something few people know about you?
A: I won an ice cream eating contest when I was eight.
Q: What was your proudest moment in high school?
A: High school was a weird time for me. I did cheerleading until sophomore year, then I floated around, then I got into theater my senior year. I was cast as C-3PO in Shakespeare Steampunk Star Wars.
Q: At what age you expect yourself to peak?
A: Ooh, I’ve thought about this, cause it’s definitely not right now. One day, I’ll get hot and taller and not look 12. I’m gonna say 25 is my year.
Q: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve done while driving?
A: I’m very good at multitasking and driving. It’s probably not weird but more dangerous. I can do a full face of makeup while driving. I only do that when the circumstances need it.
Q: How do you flirt?
A: Okay. I’m really glad you asked. Usually, they don’t know they’re being flirted with. If I linger and smile more than usual and beak a sweat, I’m probably trying to flirt. Or if I leave the conversation abruptly, that’s flirting too. Or if I don’t make eye contact.
Q: Is there anything that you desperately need the OCU campus community to know?
A: I need them to know that you’ve always got a friend in Bailey Huerta.
